«For me, working for Durable means, among other things, being part of a small family. Due to the very flat hierarchy, one person can make a big difference.»

What is your mission at Durable and what does your typical workday look like?

In these times of densification, my mission is to find and promote sustainable solutions for the construction sector. As a member of the certification team, my day-to-day work is varied – I advise clients and specialist planners during planning, implementation, and commissioning, run workshops with them, and support them in the certification process. I also take part in specialist planner meetings and visit site inspections to check the materials meet ecological requirements.

What makes working at Durable special for you?

For me, working for Durable means being part of a small family. Due to the very flat hierarchy, one person can make a big difference. Every employee’s opinion is important, and we’re always open to suggestions for improvement.

What is the first word that comes to mind when you think of Durable, and why?

Durability! Because Durable strives for longevity in all its projects.

What has been the most exciting project for you so far and what did it involve?

Several exciting projects come to mind: The DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) certification and the new construction of the University Forum in Zurich (UZH), as well as the Swiss Sustainable Building Standard (SNBS) and Minergie-ECO certifications for the new construction and renovation of the Uetikon am See cantonal and vocational school. All of these projects are in different phases.

It’s very interesting to work with specialist planners, apply different building labels, and follow the development of such comprehensive buildings.

The new construction and renovation of the Uetikon am See cantonal and vocational school is currently in the preliminary project phase, with provisional KP1 certification scheduled for the second quarter of 2024. For the new Forum UZH building project, I’m currently working with the planning team to prepare the evidence for the DGNB pre-certificate. We will soon submit these very extensive documents, as the construction project is in the final phase. Due to the scope of the projects, my work is very instructive. I really appreciate that.
